Super Jet need some help picking an extended ride plate

ive got a 93 SJ with an ocean pro ride plate on it that is stock length. i am a bigger rider at 6 ft, 285 lbs and i get the nose bounce around 3/4 throttle.

i know what i need besides dropping a few pounds is to get an extended ride plate but which one? a few of my buddies use pro tec so i have been looking at them, but i see worx, R&D and others on ebay.. so which one would be best?

should i look for the longest one so i can trim it down if i need to? its hard to tell how long they are from the pics on ebay so i dont really know which would be best.

I am a tall rider also. I am 6'5" 235 lbs and I have the R&D ride plate. It is plenty long for me, but sometimes I wonder if a wider plate would help me out. I know Rick Roy has some longer ones. You may want to contact him. They also make hull extensions, but that can change the turning of the ski. My buddy works for Rick roy some and he has said that if you buy one that is too long you can always shorten it yourself. Hope this helps some.

the products that rick roy makes are very badass but out of my price range. i took a look at the ride plates and those look awesome. ive seen the hull extensions you are talking about and that might be a way to go but i want to try the ride plate first.

i have done that to the point i needed longer bolts to bolt the plate up. it helps just not enough. i need that extension beyond the nozzle. if i knew anyone in austin that can weld aluminum i could just have a piece added for now.

I would go with the R&D Rius ride plate because it's longer and lighter than most aluminum plates. The Worx Dominator extended is just too thick & heavy at weighing in at over six pounds.

ive been looking at that one. i see one on ebay for $139.. ive also been talking with tomski. he said he could make me one and have it 4 to maybe 5 inches in length for about the same price. ive love to find a used R&D and save some cash..

i also have a sn with a standard lenght ocean pro ride plate I ride buoys most of the time and hull extensions have helped the most

The Rius is one of the better extended aluminum plates. If you happen to find one be sure to round out the back corner edges because it's going to be longer than the nozzle tip and painful to land on. The fiberglass & carbon copies will be a tad lighter but will flex quite a bit with the larger riders.

Are you riding surf or flat water, Freestyle or Buoys?

I'm 6'2 285 and in the surf I run an extended stock ride plate, with the plate extended 50mm.

On the flat water I use a d-cut WF rideplate as the preferred choice.

mostly flat water with chop depending on the wind. i used to race back in 98-99 but those days are behind me. i might ride buoys on occasion if i have a weekend off

Take your stock ride plate to someone that can weld 2" onto it, and go from there...

I can hope on a stock SN and ride it without porpoising, so body position may be a factor that time in the tray will correct...

ive decided i want the R&D extended that Zero mentioned. i have been looking at a new one on ebay but would prefer to get a used one and save some cash.

I run the JD extended ride plate and blowsion hull extenders
for me in the Long Island sound it was perfect
for the flat water (out on the Colorado River) it had its pros and cons, but again was initially setup for the choppy LI sound conditions

I have not tried another ride plate with the hull extenders in those conditions

another thing that might be easier (if available) is the Rayce weights
If i do another ski, i will use them over adding the hull extenders, because you can add and take them out
to me, that is sort of what the hull extenders did, same effect sort of as the hull extenders, except need to watch the end of the ski so you don't get knabbed with them

I don't know if Raymond is making the Rayce weights anymore, might be worth searching
not to mention, he made an awesome battery box too
and he had various weights as well

super rough coniditions i used both heavy weights, but WOW.... will it make subbing soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo easy (WATCH OUT FOR THAT)
