Other Need Some Help Wit This

So for school I need to do a physics project, now I was told to do it about something I love, so jetskiing was first to mind, but I'm having trouble relating it to physics, I have a couple Ideas but could really use some professional opinions, Thanks

My Ideas :
- Waterbox Using Back Pressure (something to do with this)
- Stand up rider being used like a spring
- The jet Propelling the ski forward ( forces )
Or some thing to do with modifying the rocker of a hull

Thanks Again

Hull design and friction?

Can you be more specific about what your project needs to look like or be about? Is it large scale or just a paper? Are you required to do testing or simply hypothesize an explanation and give examples to support the theory?

My thoughts seem to work around the pump. Thats where the magic happens. Torque is turned into forward thrust.

Pump efficiency at different speeds using different exit nozzle diameters.

Intake grates: Increased drag but increased flow of intake grates, top loader vs traditional style grates, pump efficiency using different grates,

It would be cool to dissect the differences in impellers, I.E. curved leading edge vs flat, as well as the variable pitch vs straight pitch.

Could it be as simple as the effect of different cuts in ride plates on elevation of the nose/ porpoising? Short plate vs long plate vs d-cut vs..... you get the idea.

How about nozzle sizes and how they effect acceleration and top speed? I also like Quinc's idea about hull friction. There was talk on a jet boat forum a few years ago about dimpling the bottom of a hull like a golf ball to reduce friction, but I can't remember how it came out.

The project is to be presented by PowerPoint, so more paper than large scale, and hypothesize an explanation and give examples to support the theory

Thanks for all the awesome Ideas everyone I'm leaning towards either something todo with the Pump and torque thing or hull design but still not sure which as I have to explain it to a class who know nothing about jetskiing, (except for the one kid who says "I rode a seadoo, on vacation once", which is some pretty impressive knowledge haha).
