Other Need suggestions for riding Panama City beach

We’re taking a Family trip for the weekend to Panama City beach in a few weeks. I would love to take a ski with me on the hitch hauler and try surf. Has anyone ever rode freestyle ski there? I found a rental company that will bring my ski from the parking lot to the ocean in the am and back out in the pm. But is it worth bringing to ride there on Panama City beach? Or is there somewhere within 20 min I could go for a few hours one evening? Any insight is helpful. Thanks.

It's been years since I have ridden there. You need to know that there is a 300 foot no wake zone all alone the beaches. They don't want you riding amongst the swimmers. The two places you can ride are in the pass and on the beach of shell island. Depending on conditions there can be a good break in the pass. We have had some fantastic breaks on the left side of the pass away from the boat traffic. Second, shell island is uninhabited but they have boat trips to the island and boaters will park behind the jettie and walk out to the beach. All you have to do is ride a short way down the island to get away from the people and then you can ride in the surf. All that being said I would not ride any of that alone. We used to launch at a street that dead ends into the bay. The other launch is st andrews state park but it's kind of expensive to launch there. I marked both on the map.

Dang. Riding alone is my only issue. Nobody else going has a ski or rides. I was hoping to find a place we could go one evening and kids could play in water while I ride. Hmm
