I know this section is mainly meant for hull reviews, but there wasn't a hull accessories section, so feel free to move if needed.

The blowsion hood strap kit is garbage. It's only $35 but its not worth half that. This product is intended to keep your hood on if the latch fails. It does not do that. The clips they use can be pulled apart with very light pressure and the clips will also break within a season of use. I've had a few occasions, on hard landings, where the hood latch came off AND both straps popped open all at the same time.

These type of clips are VERY inexpensive and they could EASILY use a much stronger clip without changing their cost at all.

I upgraded the clips to these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DCZRLZW

Honestly, by the time you buy a 10 pack of clips you could also just get a roll of the strap material and some stainless bolts and have a FAR superior product for far less money.

Hope this helps people in the future!

Had the same problem, clips breaking... I’ve switched clips too and have no more issues...

Also have metal clips but never got around to installing them

I am gonna be that guy................ Would have never bought anything like that with those hooks............
Eh I mean I get your point but I just didn’t want a giant ratchet strap hanging around my knees and there’s no other jet ski specific options. There are plenty of very strong clips - think dog collars and harnesses. I assumed blowsion would use something good. I was wrong.

Same problem, have had 2 Clips break. 1st one within a week of purchase, blowsion was great and replaced for free. 2nd time I purchase clips off Amazon like you did. I really like the look of their strap or I would have made my own.

There are several ways . My Freak had a ratchet on the dash where hood latch goes, personally hated having a strap. There are also setups where the strap is up near the pole and the strap is fixed at the hood latch location.

One thing I noticed I’ll mention is the Blowsion webbing shrinks a lot.... so I’d notice the strap would get looser when wet and I’d tighten the strap, then after riding it would dry and shrink and put a lot of stress on the clips.... think I remember that’s how mine where breaking back then..... after replacing the clips I’d make sure to unclip after each ride and readjust each ride....

since then I’ve switched the long part of the strap to a black Jetmaniac strap which shrinks way less... then I just make sure it’s not overtightened

I made my first set of Braap Straps from a leftover torn boat cover. Just re-used the clips and straps, never had an issue with it, kept my hood on when landing sideways with OEM latch.

You can buy the SS Ratchet straps for less than $20 and make two ratchet kits. I only run the ratchet, no more straps. Never budges, endless subs and stabs and no issues.
Better yet.... just get JetManiacs hood strap kit with a ratchet.
