Other Never come out of the footholds! Broken heel bone, ankle, and tibia

Well I have told my son over and over never come out of the foot holds and I am the one that did. We were jumping some cruiser waves and doing some nose stabs when I over rotated and was going to bail. I waited to long to bail and I only got about a foot out of the tray and it slammed back into my left foot. I Split my heel bone in half, shattered my ankle and broke the tibia bone. Had to have a four hour surgery and ended up with three screws holding heel bone together. This is what it looked like today when I got the 27 stitches out. The doctor said today that I might be able to ride again just not like a 17 year old!

That's terrible - I'm having a hard time picturing what caused the damage. Was it blunt force impact, or did your heel get caught and twisted in the hold, or what?

Blunt force impact. I was trying to stay with the ski but we were jumping cruiser waves. I was probably 10 feet in the air when it wasn't looking good. I decided at the last second to bail and it was to late. The ski tray and my left ankle slammed together. I think if I would have stayed in the hold and rode it out it would have been better, but who knows?

dude thats horrible, whats up with all the nasty carnage today?

hope you have a successful recovery bro. my dad messed his foot up bad and its effecting him to this day.

They bent my foot yesterday from 110 degrees to 90 degrees and I passed out from the pain. If the therapy goes anything like that I am in for a long ride.
