*************************** IMPORTANT INFORMATION ************************************
******************************** CHANGE IN VENUE ******************************************
********* LA PLAYA RESORT & SUITES WILL BE THE NEW HOST HOTEL **********
********** FOR THE 2015 THRUST INNOVATIONS DAYTONA FREERIDE ************

Little shake up in hotels. Grand Seas went into bankruptcy and was sold to an organization leading to the firing of GM and all the people I had contacts with. They are not allowing us to setup on their deck due to them losing their food & beverage, liquor and event license. I was just made aware of this late last week. I knew about the sale, but was guaranteed by someone who no longer works there nothing would change. Well, everything has changed. I tried to work with them to keep it there, but they were not having it.

I see this as a opportunity to move to a better hotel that is cleaner has a tiki bar, restaurant and club on the rooftop. The location of the new hotel is right next door to the Grand Seas so riding and all that will be in pretty much the same place.

I apologize for the mix up and tried my ass of to keep it there to avoid people having to switch hotels, but since they refused to hold the event and are selling rooms based upon them having food beverages and liquor I see no other way to handle this.

**Grand Seas Resort Cancellation Policy: 10 days prior to arrival, written notice**

Now on to the positive. La Playa Resort is newly refurbished, has balconies and room rates are better. People there are very nice and we have full access to the pool deck the 4 days. They have more parking and some is covered (parking garage). I urge you to switch over to La Playa and show the Grand Seas what they will be missing. La Playa have 90 rooms available as of today, so get on it while they last.

for special room rates mention: "Daytona Freeride"
$68 for a standard room
$98 for a suite

Just so people know, you can still stay at Grand Seas no problem. The Freeride event just wont be setting up by their pool. No need for freaking out.

yes, but since they canceled on us, I would rather support the hotel that is supporting us. I changed my reservation to the New one.

EDIT: to remove confusion they didn't cancel on us but to quote Nick's post "They are not allowing us to setup on their deck due to them losing their food & beverage, liquor and event license"

I did too. It was cheaper, so we essentially got an extra night for free. (Wednesday) I just didnt want people to get into a mass panic over it.

Guys. Read the release and go read what Nick Posted on FB. Ownership changed. They do not have license for selling food or drink....... He got told everything was ok by someone who basically did not have the facts..............

Well it takes hours to get someone on the phone from grand seas... so its no surprise to me they went out of business.

If you want to support the hotel that is hosting us, then def switch reservations. Otherwise Grand Seas is a very nice hotel and you will have a great time at either. The ridezone is massive and spans both properties....so no sweat there.

It doesn't matter where you stay. La playa will book out. If you want to support the host hotel but can't book there, eat, drink and party there.
