New post notifications no longer include the posted material?

I am no longer receiving the content of new posts in my notifications. I still get the notification of a new post but it doesn't show me the actual post so i have to log in to read new posts. okay at work, but I get emails on my PDA and like to read the highlights on the go.

Is this a new change or just a temp glitch? I liked the old way.

New change. Recently the number of people that reply to those e-mails has gone up dramatically. There have always been some, it's gotten annoying lately. Even though it says you have to go to the site to reply to the message, some people reply to the notification e-mails and they come to me.

I used to have those e-mails go into oblivion, but that's not a good idea because I would miss important e-mails sometimes, so I have to get them.

BTW, people do it on pm notifications as well.

JETT, anything else you can do? I found the notifications handy, but now without the actual post they are just annoying.

FWIW, I may unsubscibe from all threads...

damn.... I really liked to not have to come to the side while on my Blackberry... it's a pain in the ass to navigate this site from a Pearl.

Is there a mobile web site for the X???

Yep, been there for a year or more. Bottom left corner, select Mobile

Here's the deal, you only get one notification of a reply until you visit again, so if you're 'following' a thread, you're only catching one reply. You have to visit/login to get it to reset and send another notice.

Any other suggestions to keep my inbox clean then?

I use the mobile site from my Palm, it's still a pain and doesn't navigate near as well. I kept getting PM's this weekend and it confused my browser.

How about an auto reply notification similar to "out of office" so that anybody trying to reply to the posts or PM's gets immediate notification of the failure and knows to log in and reply? The sender would then know it went into oblivion.

I also surf at work but try to keep my online time reasonable as it is all tracked. Now I pretty much keep the window open but minimized at all times. I guess I will find out jiust how closely it is watched.

The e-mails come from administrator@x-h2o.com, which is also the address where people use the 'contact us' page contact, so that has to be a valid e-mail, and they come to me. I can't just have them go into oblivion.

I can understand your frustration. We'll just get used to it. A few weeks from now and we'll all have forgot it used to function that way anyway.

I've unsubscribed from email notification cause my inbox is silly full.

but, my favorite part of the email notification was to catch people changing there posts. :)

It was a great way of catching a rant that was later edited or deleted. :)

Edited posts have the originals saved in a history, we can still view the previous versions of posts if needed.

So you guys like the drama then I take it?

Maybe a glitch, but I get a notification for just about every post, not just the 1 until i log back in. I have been away from my desk for a 1/2 hr and have 4 post notifications to this thread and 5 from another. I used to be able to follow the thread without logging on at all. It doesn't seem to notify of every new post but enough to follow the drama. lol

Yeah, that's not normal and not how it works for me. Sure you don't have the site open somewhere where it auto-refreshes on Who's Online or something?

Anyway, I'm sorry you're used to it being that way, but that's not how it is for most people, and it's become a nuisance to me since some people can't understand those are just notification e-mails and aren't meant to be replied to, but I still have to receive legit e-mails on that address.

How many addresses come with the site account? Couldn't you have the administrator address set up to the "Contact us" for all site emails and linked to you, and have another address set for notifications? The latter could have an auto reply and would handle all outgoing notifications.

This would help keep the two seperate.

ie: notifications@X-h20.com

Not sure if it's possible, just brainstorming...

Already looked into that, not an option in the system.
