Blaster New to Wave blasters problem with bogging

New to the forum wanted to say hi to everyone here heard really good things about it. I am new to wave blasters just got one Saturday and i wanted to get some help with it. It is a 95 everything on it seems to be stock and everything looks ok from what i know but here is the problem i am having. It seems to start and idle ok after i use the primer bulb on the side. It does have a water hook up for it so i first ran it in my driveway and it’s seemed to idle and rev normal but when i put in the water it idols but when you gas it just bogs down then shuts off. If i prime it again it runs for little while then shuts off, seems to be starving for gas. I took it home it did have gas to the carb lots of it. The previous owner replaced the gas line as you can see from the picture it also has a new stock type gas filter. I then took the carb off and pulled the side with the jets and i did notice a small piece of something not sure if metal was about the size of half a popcorn seed it was behind the diaphragm i included a picture. Not sure of it was blocking the little pump there or not? There was a small amount of stuff in the little filter on the other side of the carb I cleaned it and out it back on didn’t touch the air fuels or anything else, also it has a 145 for the main jet. I put it all back together and it idols and revs but I am wondering if it will do this out of water and then bog after the prop has pressure from being in the water? I mixed three gallons of gas using about 9 oz.’s of good oil. Any help would be awesome not sure if I will be able to try in the water again this weekend it’s getting cold. Lastly I did notice when I bought it does seem to have low compression 130 in one and like 118 in the other looks like I might be doing the top end thanks guys.

if your little filter on the fuel feed is anyway blocked/choked with anything such as sand etc,you will have the exact effect as you have described, its happened to me in shallow water plenty of times and my only way to return to my launching area is to by pass the jets on the carb by pumping the primer while i ride back, you will only really truely know until you put it under load,ie ride it in water!Compression does seem low also, and i myself wouldnt like the differance between both, but one step at a time..welcome to the form... Blasters rule!!!!!!

Thank you i will check that, if i do the top end i think i would oversize the cylinder for little more power what would be the next up from stock and can you do more then or is the cylinder to thin for more? Thanks guys.

I would also be concerned with low compression and the variance in each cylinder. I would get to doing a top end ASAP just to prevent a bigger bill down the road. If its getting cold take your ski to the water leave it strapped down to the trailer and back it in and rev it and see what it does. If it doesn't rev or even idle try to prime it like Irish said and see if it stays running. If that keeps it running but it wont run on its own the problem is obviously fuel. It sounds like there is a chance you already fixed your own problem I would get it to the water right away test it out like I said so you know before it gets too cold then do the top end. Otherwise you'll be guessing and spend half the spring getting it running right and miss some primo riding time.

82mm is the next size from stock.. 84mm requires an oversized bore kit

I did get the ski running by rebuilding the carb, it didnt want to run at first bug i raised the low side of the carb and it seemed to help it transition to the main jet and ran pretty good for having low compression. I was thinking about sending the top end to the Group K guys for the big bore kit what do you think about them as a company and the big bore kit thanks!

great company, with a great reputation. if you want a sweet setup, they can help. plan on dropping some scratch though.
id spend the money on a fresh topend and a nice pipe. best bang for the buck and keeps the reliablity.
