Newbie here...my first B1!

Hey y'all! I'm new here, I just bought my very own Blaster this weekend after spending last summer ripping around on my boyfriend's SJ and B1. Fell in love with the sport and stoked to finally have my very own ski now!

I'm riding a '93 B1 with a Jet Maniac motor and a freaking factory B-pipe! I feel so lucky to have found such an incredible ski as my first ski. It rips so hard and I absolutely adore it. Boyfriend is, understandably, very jealous.

I live in Nevada near Lahontan Reservoir. Planning to ride a lot of buoys this summer!

I was hoping to order some parts from JM but it looks like since I'm a new member I can't DM anyone yet...hoping that by making my first post that restriction will be lifted soon!
Ski y'all later!

I rode lahontan quite a bit a couple years back when I worked in fernley for 6 months. Cool lake. Gets a bit windy out there. I did see a decent amount of skis, and never got hassled by cops or people.

welcome...alternately you can post up in JMs thread in the marketplace and he will get back to you

I rip blasters also. I will always have one. Once you figure em out. They shred. I've never been thrown off a ski harder from sheer traction of the hull to the water, than a blaster. I know alot of people have trouble mounting them. And that's why they get hate. But it's never been a problem for me. And I'll always own a blaster. Top 5 ski ever made imo. Including am hulls

Don't get me wrong, the SJ is a blast, I just have lil wimpy noodle legs and like giving them a break. :p Not that my butt ever really touches the seat on my blaster, but the option is nice.

My other expensive/life-sucking hobby is riding horses and hopping up on a B1 the first time felt just like getting on a really fast horse. The balance is similar enough and the muscles you use are similar as well. My first time on a B1 felt sooo right. I've heard people compare skis to dirt bikes of the water, I say it's like rodeo on the water!

I can mount em no problemo. Didn't learn that until about 2yrs ago unfortunately. Dragging elbows in the water gave me huge flashbacks to dragging knee around tracks on my sportbikes, which is one of the best feelings in the world. I need a blaster. My wallet just doesn't agree currently lol.

That's awesome I bought one brand new in 1993. Owned it for like for like 25 years. Finally stuck a 1200 in it, then sold a few years later. What a great overall ski, probably rode almost every Saturday from March to November back in the 90s.

That's so cool!! My bf really wants to swap his blaster to an 1100. We'd love to hear more about your swap if you're willing to share/have photos or a build thread. :)

Blasters are fun because they're the closest thing ever made to a motorcycle on the water. Skis are all the dumb stuff you wish you could do on streetbikes and dirbikes without the risk of severe injury/death and jail time and when you crash you usually get right back on the ski. Not so on the street or dirt. I did a ton of track days on my 05 R1 a decade ago, but the track fees, news tires, etc are a drain on the wallet. Not to mention being in 20 lbs of leather and plastic on a 100 degree day is hot as hell and terrible compared to splashing in the refreshing water when you wipe out on your ski. I've barely rode my R1 since getting a SJ and B1 7 years ago.

Having a Blaster is like having a really tall lifted truck - fat people can't ride/get in them. Except that Blasters are fun and really tall brodozer trucks are useless.

It's fun to rip one effortlessly. And people watching think it's easy. Then you let them try. And they just tip over until their exhausted. It's like skateboard. Most people wanted to be good at it. Few were

This^^ Love it when someone tells me they ride a jetski that does 70mph so the waveblaster will be easy for them. Then they only make it 20 yards out and come back to shore completely out of breath. :D

Wasn't aware that Blasters are hard to ride. I have driven Wetbikes. Are they similar at all ?
I've seriously let over 300 people. Maybe more. Idk. Alot. Ride my skis at lakes and rivers. And by far and wide, the yamaha wave blaster is the most humbling jet ski out there. Small women seem to do better. It has to do with weight and centering it. Men try to use their shoulders. Women use their hips. What I've noticed anyways. Awesome skis.

I rode a wetbike. I thought it was a turd. And no real skill. Mash the throttle. Go straight till it pops up. Then curse around and don't turn too sharp or your screwed. Nothing like a blaster I'd say.

Can confirm finding balance from a point below the waist is key on a blaster.

Women have a lower center of gravity than men.

Cons: can't jump as high
Pros: can jump on a blaster for the first time and rip
