300/440/550 no fuel getting into the carb

I have a js440 and if i prime it, it will fire and run until the fuel that i primed burns off. My quesion is that my carb has been rebuilt and the diaphram is good but what else pumps fuel into the carb. the gas tank seems to be holding pressure but it is still not pumping anything into the carb. ANOTHER QUESTION... if im looking into the throat of the carb and i pull the throttle lever is fuel suppose to squirt into the throat if so it isnt.

fuel pump ?

Check that you have no air leaks in your properly placed lines. Also make sure your fuel pump is really clean. I just did a complete ski re-build and that was my last issue.

I would agree with infamy. Assuming that it ran OK before, its probably a blocked fuel jet. Strip it down and give it a good clean up with a decent carb cleaner and it should be fine. Also reset the hi and low speed needles and check there OK. I was asked to look at a Superjet once and the low speed needle had snapped at the end and completely blocked the low speed jet.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

If I was you I would check all of the fuel lines. I have an 84 and I had the same problem. When I ran me ski with the fuel on I had air bubbles in the fuel lines. When I ran it on the reserve it ran just fine. It happened to be a crack in the line just above the primer T in the line. Air was getting into the carbs, and the suction was just not pulling ther fuel. Hope this helps

check to make sure your pulse line is hooked up correctly...i had the same issue on a 701 with dual 38's and it turned out I had my fuel lines hooked up wrong.

Same deal for me yesterday. Stock Mikuni 44, 3 lines going to the carb(besides primer line) how could I possibly hook it up wrong?? Well, I did.

That was 45 minutes in the baking sun trying to get it going. Man, my primer got a workout. I'm a doofus.

The fuel pump should be built into your carb though, make sure your vacuum line that comes from the case is hooked up to the lower right connection if you are running a BN. After cleaning the carb and hooking up the lines in the correct spots if you are still having problems I would say it is a fuel line air leak. Best way to test is take a line and drop it straight in your fuel tank and hook it up to the catb, as well as the vacuum line. If that works you definitely have an air leak somewhere.
