Sweet pic. It looks on purpose. Malone/Lenzi and others did that combo on the U.S. tour back in 2000? maybe 2001(either in Ft. beach or at one of the cali stops). I don't know if anyone/mag got a pic. We all use to do barrel roll rail grabs(towards the front of the ski. grab-bear hug) in surf and flat, the Landings sucked!!! Not a fun trick to do.

FT Walton 2000/2001. But they kept the hands on the bars. I use to have the pics that I took.
Same year you were the only one to try a back flip there also.

Ha ha ha You remember, even then I was dumb enough to do backies off 2-3 footers in 3 feet of water with no helmet! Good times. I think it was Malone who did the One footer with No-hands in practice for sure, but he might have only done a one hander one footer in the comp. One of those years during practice, I saw one of them do it on flat water as well(bad landings but wow!) I can't believe those National tours were almost 10 years ago!!!!

.... not to mention, 2000 was the year Suicide pulled off the backy in ultra shallow water at Galveston TX to break into the top 3, and followed that up with the no handed 'Raggedy Ann' backflip at Coronado Ca. Great memories for all on tour that year.

Eddie's normally look pretty good - The slop in oregon is pretty gnarly compared to the clean surf from the ride in Oz :wink:. Regardless, props to both - it's a pretty damn tough trick. I'm lucky if I stay on the ski with one foot one hand.
