No spark on Superjet, not the coil

My 91 Superjet has zero spark. Last time I was riding it suddenly died on the water, no warning. Tried the coil from my Blaster and there was no change.

It's clear now that I've opened the electrical box that water was getting into it. It was run in salt water for a while, and there's a good bit of salt deposits in the box.

Should I just replace the entire electrical box, or is there a specific component that would have shorted out?

pull out the volt meter and start ohming everything out. If you don't want to do this send everthing to John @ JSS and he can clean it up and rebuild

I would just clean the electrical box up real well. Get rid of the salt deposits and clean all connections. Reconnect everything and use dielectric grease on the connections. Then go from there. If still no spark then my guess is it is probably the CDI (black box with all the wires leading into it).

Start stop switch is very common as droc said, also check both connections from the start stop wires just before they go into the ebox. Black and white clips for corrosion. Salt in those has killed my ski before in mid ride.

Disconnect the stop switch and see if there is spark. (black and white wire plug)

Check the ground from the CDI ,check all grounds.

Lastly, pull the flywheel and see if the wires comming from the stator are well connected.

Turns out it was the CDI. Swapped in the one from my Blaster and she fired right up. Thanks Mike.

It looks like I can clean up the box and reseal it with silicone. Riva wants $360 for a new CDI though. Makes me wish it was the coil. Can I trust a used one?

Dont use silicone, it will attract water. Use GREASE.

Seal your box with heavy axle grease. Yes, its messy but has been a success for years. Just dab it on you finger a few times, all the way around the seal and you will see that no water will penetrate the box. If you use silicone you will absolutely be opening the box in a few months.

Sweet!!! I would just pick up a stock 701 CDI from someone here which will be much cheaper than $360.00.
