ODI Grips + stock bars = I'm pissed

So I go to put some ODI Rouges on my blaster and the peices of shiot won't go small enough to clamp the stock bar. These are the new style ones that have the clamping ring on both ends. I tighten the screws down all the way (the gap on the locking rings are completely closed) and you can still spin them on the bar with little resistance. And yes, the outside clamp is fully on the bar.

Is this normal? Maybe a new problem since they have gone to this new design??

I plan on using a cut-off wheel on my dremel to increase the clearence on that gap in the clamping ring. It shoudln't be too tough but I guess I am just a little suprised I have never heard of this issue before.

And yes, you heard me right, my blaster still has the stock bar. :eek:mfg:

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
just make sure you dont get the bars with the diamond cut on the ends... I put my odi grips on... but they are ON and will never come off until I cut them off...

They are deff the pwc ones, I got them from atlantic jet sports and they say pwc on the package numerous times.

Also, I'm a weirdo in the fact that I'm not on board the aftermarket bars on blasters bandwagon. That stock steering stem is god awful looking when exposed with a set of aftermarket bars and there is no way in hell I am going to be droping coin for a umi setup. Call me stubborn, but $300+ for a used peice of billet that does nothing for performance is not my cup of tea. That stock bar is staying until it bends or breaks and so far it has been doing just fine despite my best efforts.

I will be able to modify these grips to work with the stocker, it's just a pain I wasn't counting on.

Its a blaster who cares what the stock steering looks like exposed(thats the least of there physical beauty flaws). I run riva 28's after bending the hell out of a few stockers. The gain in control on big leans is huge not to mention i can ride for a lot longer before my arms go completely numb. for 68 bucks cant go wrong....its all about function hell with beauty....i actually dont beleave iv ever washed my 96 in 2 years haha.....

So explain to me again how aftermarket bars function better then stock given I am not having problems bending them? Elaborate on what about them gives you more control and keeps your arms from going numb. I am not being sarcastic here, I am truly curious. I have just never seen the point of them and if it's looks, I feel anything gained in that department is lost ala the stock stem.

I'm also not too hype about cutting bar holes in the brand new cover I bought last year. Do your riva 28's require that?

....

Ill tell ya i had never ran aftermarket bars on any of my ski's untill my b1. I think alot has to due with the bend. The stocks had a slight down bend and the riva's seem to be more straight to up. Also im a bigger rider (180lbs) the extra 3-4 inches of length, moved my stance inline with my shoulders so rather then tucking my arms more in there more out (like doing a push up). Yes you do have to cut your stock bar pad if you want to reuse it, but it will fit and they do include a riva bar pad witch is what I used. Also i noticed I have more leverage in the air to correct if need be for the landing. As for bending the stockers iv done it on almost every ski iv owned....even my couches...Choice is yours but I think it really made the stance for me alot better as i only ride standing it seem to put my body in better alighnment....

here is a hint, order you a set of UMI bars for your blaster, remove the crossbar, guess what, they fit inside the OEM Pad.

After a lenghty self-debate I kept the stockers for now. A very slight hogging of the gap on the lock rings and they work like a charm. The attachment shows the little I needed to take off and the dremel bit I used in case anyone runs into a similar problem with these.
