Odyssey battery crap already?

So i just bought an odyssey battery and so far i have used it twice. While riding yesterday i took a break and came back and it was dead. Now i know that most engines have something that charges the battery and im wondering if that is my problem and if so is there an easy fix to that or do i have to pull the enigne and take the flywheel cover off (if that is where its at) Please let me know. thanks

Charge that odyessy and have someone check it out before diving in that charging system, they have been having problems with odyessys lately.

if you tighten the nut on the battery post too hard they turn slightly and go dead because they lose connection inside...the posts on these batteries are weak and quick to spin if too much torque is applied...beware

I got an AGM sealed Deka knockoff battery from Advance Auto Parts last year. It's a "magna power sports' battery and was just under $90. It's been great to me so far.

I'm on my 3rd season with a odyssey in my stocker. It's never been out of the boat and never charged. I'm liking it.

I put 5 of them into my boats a couple of years ago..

on the boats I own that dont have leaky bilge switches to discharge the battery, my experience has been the same.

and they keep cranking WAY past when most batteries lay over dead when you sink and drown your boat...

The problems I have had were not electrical nor related to the charging system.

Mechanical failure.

I used loctite once on nuts...it spun one terminal taking it off...a friend spun his post by using a 10mm socket on it....never use a socket...use a open end wrench and grab the wrench near the nut or have fun taking it back...

I generally use a 10mm socket on a nut driver ( screwdriver handle)

I sometimes use a 3/8 ratchet with a 10mm socket, simply pay attention and dont sexnut&retard torque that shiat down.

also, isn't there something about Oddessy's and making certain that the first initial charge is a complete FULL one? I recall reading something to that effect.

My experience with them sucked too. I bought a new one, used if for half a season on a OEM elec system SJ. I never abused it, or it never got overcharged. I basically babied it!

Over winter it was trickle charged once in awhile and kept inside. Spring came and it said full charge, but had no cranking power. There are lots of thread about the POS Odyesey.

If I were you, I would charge it then put a load tester on it. For some reason they just die.

I use Power source batteries and get 5-6 years out of them. Power Source batteries are the same as the Jetworks battery. In fact Jetwork just puts there name on them, like Lynn Vick and some other motor sports suppliers do. Good battery and the only one I would reccomend.

I don't remember 100%....but I do believe they come charged, ready for use.

I have had great luck with mine on the third season with ridding in the surf at least once a month. Right now it is out of the ski because i thought it died and put my backup battery in, the issue turned out to be a starter relay not the battery.

You shouldn't have to worry about that for the money they charge ,that is a huge plus with the Jetworks ,you can't strip the terminal .Not to mention the superior construction and proven cranking power .
