Opinions on rusty crank...

Opened up my engine today and found that my crank had obviously been sitting in water at some point. One side of the crank is rusty for both pistons is rusty and the other side looks great. Is this salvageable with some steel wool/scrotch brite or is it toast? I have been running this ski without any problems otherwise... PS - Sorry for massive pics but wanted to get good pictures.

The real concern would be the needle bearing's and that journal area. I would pull it apart and clean up the flyweight like you say with a scothcbtite just so nothing can fall off in chunk's, when you reassemble and then check tolerences.
I have seen some nasty sea doo crank's and done this to them, rinse good with wd-40 so you don't damage the center seal and it is still running strong.

Rebuild it you have the funds or clean it up and run it. the worst you could do is blow up some cases that you could replace for $50. No big loss if youd be replacing the pistons and crank anyway
