i just read a post over on pwctoday that this last 2012 race has been canceled due to not enough PAID entry's.

Yes, apparently there weren't enough people to pre-register. They needed a certain amount of people to pre-register, not pay, and that didn't happen.

I have instructed the promoter (RPM) to give the gift certificates to the people that did pre-register, even thought the event did not take place. I have also offered to cover the postage to mail the certificates to these people.
