Super Jet Painting a b pipe.

Hi guys I am going to be stripping my b pipe and repainting it. I was going to strip it with the wire wheel and decide on something to point it with. I was thinking of using a silver rustoleum hammered finish. My concern is I do not know how well it will hold up and what type of primer I should use on it. I do not want to go the powder coating route because of costs.

I found a local guy to powdercoat tons of parts, from nozzle, rrp pole, b pipe, intake grate , think it was 12 things for $125. I thought it was money well spent.

I sanded mine down, (not to bare metal, but in some places yes), and then rattle canned it with black engine paint with clear.

Didn't you wetsand the hell out of that thing? Looks awesome. I am probably only going to be doing the pipe because the manifold and neck are fine, some corrosion on the manifold but isn't too bad, may do it if I am feeling ambitious. Have found some local guys who may powdercoat but I don't need to go breaking the bank.

So I decided to start stripping the pipe. Went at it with the wire wheel, after about an hour of feeling like I was grinding through Iron my father came down and was like
"Ayyo dip:):):):), you know we have paint stripper right?"

And I was like

So then I put it on and stripped the entire GD thing in about 15 minutes.
Just need to get some primer for her and find some paint. Do I need high temp paint? I know it is an exhaust but it is watercooled.

Some pics for your pleasure.

That pump looks sick. You can usually get a shop to do powder coat in black for pretty cheap

yes you right about doing it cheaper in black but i bet to have a good job done with proper prep work and masking all the areas i bet you in to it for 200-300 for a semi or gloss black

Got some rustoleum aluminum primer and metallic paint. When we get power back I will paint her and post some pics.

Primer is on, hopefully she will be painted tonight.

Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I have seen that is a mod pipe correct?
