Painting carbon hood

its raining again!
Im in the process of purchasing a carbonfibre hood and will need to paint it, what i want is to leave the carbon weave exposed on the top and paint the rest. I was planing on using a scotch pad to key where i want it exposed prior to shooting clearcoat over the whole hood, But need to know if i will still be able to see the carbon weave after its had a rub?

yes you'll be able to see the weave. you can scuff it up like that but as soon as the clear hits it, it will shine like a monkeys a$$ again. you can try it by scuffing it up like that and just wet it with water and you will see it. i did a carbon overlay on my hood with a metalic flake clear coat and it looks like a fishing lure in the sun.

Looks good, ive been altering a oem hood in my build thread so recon that might be the way to finish it! wouldnt be much chance of the hood coming to bits on a heavy landing if it was layed up like that inside and out.
