SXR Performance SXR 800Cc Engine Vs SXR 1100

Hi guys

I tryed searching but could not really find the answere i was looking for.

What is the main differences to choose the 1100SXR engine prefered for a performance sxr 2cyl 800 engine?

Price vs HP ?

You get a 1100 quit cheap and get the 120hp and torque from the start...

But im always thinking....

What about the WEIGHT!

I weight redused my SXR a lot over 30lbs - and add some nice mods this year to my engine.
And love the things and really feels the difference and im sure the weight is one of the main reasons.

So im thinking is it possible to build a more stabile engine 2cyl sxr with over 120hp that can outrun the 1100? Or does it have a bette balance with the heavyer machine in it?

Yes, you can build a SXR 800 motor to have the same power output as a stock 1100 motor. It is called a Superstock Race Motor. It will be just as fast, pull just as hard, but it will cost you over $5,000.00 to do this. Not worth it. the 1100 transplants came about when they started the GP class. Meaning, you can put any motor in there. The 1100 motors are cheap and make good power. Does that mean you should do it? who knows.

I'd stay away for freeride/freestyle use. If racing, weight is not quite as detrimental. Triples are economical, fast setups.
 
Its different power. The 1100 in a blaster is still a blaster in the surf, the 35 pounds is lost in a boat like that. Its not like its an aftmarket lite hull.

But a ported 800 with carbs, pipe and everything is a much different tax bracket than a stock 1100.
 
I love my sxr1100, bone stock 1100 out of a 97 stx 1100 and im running high 50's. Great, even power and the extra weight helps to keep the ski planted and feels more stable. Def not a freestyle ski tho...
 
Absolutely agree. An 1100 SXR is an amazing carving and buoy ski. I think you can just about sit down on the tray at full speed also. Very stable. Not for freestyle.
