Photo's of 2006+ RN SJ Front Hood Latch?

I am trying to rig up something to secure the front of the hood on our 1995 FX1.

I thought that @Big Kahuna said somewhere that the pole bracket on the 2006+ RN SJ are the same as the FX1.

If so, would someone either provide a photo of how a 2006+ RN SJ hood attaches at the front or provide a link to an image?

I have searched through "images" on the web and I can't find any close up photos.

I can get you pictures of the cold fusion hood latch for the Fx1 if you want to try to make something similiar. All you would need is a chunk of aluminum and a mill, or if you Didn’t care about the looks, you might be able to use a dremel. When I heard he was discontinuing all products I bought 5 of them....but I need them all at the moment. Im going to try to find someone local to make a similar replacement. Does wdk or wetracer still make an Fx1 latch?

I would like to see pictures of the cold fusion hood latch for the Fx1. At least it would center the hood for use with a ratchet strap.

wavewarrior: Yep, Monday, falling sideways on a boat wake shifted the front of the hood such that it started taking on water. Any suggestions for the best ratchet strap that won't cut up the hull?

I guess I am late to the party with this 1995 FX1 ski.

Cold Fusion's is clearly the better of the three because the hook is higher, and took more material and more material removal to make. Dang.

Wetracer is no longer in business apparently.

They shared the same bracket for a number of years, may still do. The hood mount is different for both skis. The SJ uses 2 hood prongs that are mounted next to the brackets, where as the FX has the single "Spoon" mount at the center of the bole bracket, there is a "Tab" that comes off the center towards the hood side. No Pics on the Parts Finder that shows this on the SJ Brackets.

mikidymac: Thanks for the photo. Yes that is the same bracket on our FX1. Is that also the bracket on the 2006+ RN SJ's? That center horizontal bar is where the FX1 front hood latch which is ineffective (and on ours is somewhat broken) which attaches to the hood.

Not a secure hood.
No bilge pump yet.
The awesome Blowsion Yamaha bilge switch is on order.
Fingers' crossed...

of course I do but since i'm not one of the many ambulance chasers on here, I don't offer my parts every time somebody asks.
like I said a few months ago, that latch from Yamaha is over $300, so make me a fair offer and i'd probably part with it.
offer me peanuts for it and it can just lay on the ground with the rest of the gold around here

Is TheBuzzard the one with the FX1 front hood latch listed on ebay for $249?

If so, TheBuzzard you are wrong. It is not listed as over $300 from Yamaha.

It is listed as "unavailable."

My guess is that you should hold tight at $249 and you will eventually get it.

Me, I can see why the front latch has design issues, so I will probably try a different design if available.

BTW, TheBuzzard generally where are you located?

I look all part up on HLSM microfiche to see what they cost new.
it doesn't always tell me if its available or not but I get the cost so I can relay that info and let the buyer know its not just a $2 part new.
where do you think you got that cherry theft recovery squarenose from?
i'm generally located in my recliner watching westerns, UFC or alien stuff
