Any chance for an increase? I am not that active and I'm still at about 96% at all times trying to figure out which PMs I have to sacrifice.

It's a PITA.
Why not limit the PM box by size in bytes instead of number of messages?

Because I can't, that's not an option and I have never seen a hack/mod that would work that way.

Make sure to clear your Sent Messages folder also.

Also, 250 is fairly high compared to most sites that have it at 100. If I set it at 500 or even 1000, most people would wait until it gets to the limit before deleting anything. It doesn't matter what the number is.

I just checked the database backup from this morning and the pm table file is the 3rd largest out of 143 files, it's 4 times bigger than the next one. A full db backup is around 540mb now, increasing the pms further would add quite a bit to that.

I almost suggested the PM box increase awhile back, but then I thought about it and you are absolutly right. Even if you make it 1000, I would still always be full....LOL. I never delete any until I have too...

Its a waste of time for the admin probly. why have it take so long to transfer and do backups.

If the text in a PM is that important, cut and paste to an email or text file.

I try and keep up with mine and erase old. :icon16:

As soon as I get a part I was dealing on I delete the associated PM's. Been a few times I erased something too soon though.

I've basically bought every part for my new build over the X and I'm still under 400 messages sent/received. I did clear everything out before I started though.

***TIPS - One thing about replies is that each message contains all the text of previous messages so I just keep the last message and delete the earlier ones. This way I get all the information in just one message and have less to search thru.

Here's a pro tip on pm's:

Once you get full, go to the bottom of your inbox and export the entire folder as text and save the file to your computer: http://www.x-h2o.com/private.php?do=downloadpm&dowhat=txt then empty that folder. Do the same for your sent folder and you'll have copies of all your pm's plus an empty pm mailbox.

That works pretty slick. I like paper copies to keep on file for going back to later so that works out good for me.
