Tell us what you paid and how it runs then we can decide if it's worth it. I personally have only ridden 1 twice in my opinion it's more a race ski. Keep in mind I rode it on flat water not in the surf. It kinda moved alot slower than a superjet

My brother has one and we both love it. Its definitely heavy but in a stock to stock comparison it makes a lot more power than any other stock boat. Hell it makes more power than most than most peoples built motors. Ive been watching the ones that have sold and I feel that they are a great deal for what you are getting. Granted it was built for racing, dont let anyone tell you that its not a worth while hull for whatever you are looking to do. Its a great boat and doesnt reguire the huge investment to get it up to speed in terms of power and hook up. They rip through the mid range rpms. Crank and flywheel are pretty heavy so they dont crank up as quick as a smaller motors but that mid range takes care of it. Its very wide...will almost feel like you are riding a couch with a handle pole at first but dont worry. They roll really nicely. Im sure there are a lot of naysayers about them but if you dont like it, I would take a look at it.

I could keep going with my opinions. I would be pretty pumped to have one.

We have a forum specifically for the Octane. I suggest you start there:

Did i make a mistake ? Depends, to each his own. Some like, some hate.
or a great find see above answer
I just need info about the ski see link above
do people like it? Depends
is it a good surf ski? Can be
Is it a good free style ski Can be, depends on skill and mods
and what is this about side reinforcements? Highly recommended for rolls
do i really need thoughs?

Ross rode the piss out of my friend's pretty much stock Octane, surf backflips, rolls, a couple throwaways. Wamilton's designed the hulls pretty tough I think. I would not go right to reinforcing it.

They do not need to be reinforced. feel the bond line on the nose and you will understand. RIDE IT. If you listen to too many opinions you will end up doing a bunch of work that does not need to be done.

POS = old Piece of poop that either doesnt run or runs poorly.

HOS = old Hunk of poop that is mechanicaly sound but is undesirable.

That ski's been floating around Eghey for a while with a stupid reserve on it. I cant beleive he finally let it go, and for that price.

There are a few things you can do to get more bottom end out of the Octane. Randy at watcon.com can help you out. He is the man when it comes to this boat. Increasing your compression and reprogramming your ignition would be a good start to gaining more bottom end.
