Octane Polaris Octane

Hi there!

I have a FX1 but i'm interested in buying a 2004 Polaris Octane (full original plus Blowsion tubbies II, Prok flame arrestors, and different carburetos jetting).
My intention is to do freeride (and maybe some recreational freestyle).
For the price is much better to buy a Polaris Octane than a stock Superjet and then modify it.
My concern is the problems i may have in finding parts, if some part breaks in the jetski.

My doubt, and the help i ask you guys, is if it's posible to change engine and electronics in the Polaris Octane in the case i have problems and then dont find parts for it?
Anyone knows for how long the Polaris factory (or some other company) should have parts for this ski?
What would i need to change in case of having problems? (engine, electronics, ?...)
Would it be an intelligent choice to change it for yamaha 760cc mechanical and electronic parts? Or DASA engine and other electronics? I don't really know how this stuff works and hoe would it be possible...

All of this would be done in a jetski mechanic store, i would have professional help.

Many thanks for your help guys!

Polaris is a rather large company with many variations of engines, specially when you factor snowmobile engines..some of which are almost identical so i suspect engine parts both oem and aftermarket shouldnt be too much of an issue.

in regards to engine swap out...anything is possible..its just a matter of "how much" ;)

Ryan..being fairly new o the sport an mostly flat water, may i ask why the octane would need so much for surf..ie an 04 with most glitches solved...noticed i say "most" lol

isnt the wamilton hull good in surf or is it more geared as a racer...on theire site its billed as an "out of the box racer/freestyle" boat.

the thing makes great power umi pole. steering, what seems like a good pump..is it plate/grate...is it the angled pump to keep the nose down..is it its size or weight...curious minds wanna know...

i got an 93 sn as the friends loaner/back up boat and i ride an 04 octane, mostly flat water, running bouys and chasing wakeboat wakes. so should i leave the octane for flat/racing build up the square...or leave the square as the friends guest boat, build the octane...or just outright find a surf ready pre 08' sj..lol

i dont mind thinkering or fiberglass etc etc..its what winter months are for ;)

thanks for any info you may have

the polaris stuff just doesnt hold up very well in salt water. the parts are expensive and hard to get. the motor is so freak n heavy. the pole is about 4 inches to long so you have cut or replace that. the pump is a 140mm pump not the best pump for low end. the back half of the hull is a joke it leaks all over the place. the hull fitting are :):):):)ty.the exhaust pipe will rott out due to sitting in foam thats full of water. its a good boat just poorly executed. its alot of work to make a durable boat.

and the hood will most likely crack and ya cant get one . other then all that its a good ski. love the way it rides in the surf. i will let you know how it goes with the yamaha motor in it if i ever get it done lol.

I will disagree with what Ryan says. The 04 has the shorter pole, I've had mine in the ocean sense new, an 03. I properly maintain mine and no issues other than a recently broken steering cable. The 140 mag pump he says is to small is also inaccurate. The 140 pump is the size of pump that was used in the Jacobs world finals boats. It's great in the ocean and for wave jumping. Sucks to race.

octane is the best hull for freeride i put dasa engine 870cc in mine he have less power and drink a lot fuel vs my 970cc stroke polaris engine
but the ski is verry light

shorter pole then an o2 not a surf ready superjet. the pole is way to long. even a -2 you still need another 4 off that. wait you will see when stuff starts rotting out all over the place. bulkhead bearing housing exhaust tube (from the outside in )like to know how to "maintain"that. motor plates rotting and pulling out. i guess if you dont use the ski i would be good. as for the 140mm pump it is small for flatwater and surf a 144 is stock in a superjet if your looking for low end its the wrong size pump. can you make it work yes is it as go as it gets no. come up here and try my 148mm pump and tell me the 140 is better.
