What are people making their pole pads out of?

I came across these and think I might try it out for a pole pad. Just cut it down to what size I want. It is firm so it wont crush like underpadding so not sure if that will be good or bad. It will still absorb some of the slam down though.

Opinions?

I wanted the squish of the under pad. Using the black pad gives it cushion but not too much.
