I took my stock 44mm carbs and machined off some of the casting knobs, stops, or whatever they are called.
It definitely cleaned them up for stock carbs.
I took the paint off the bowl cover, since its SS.

Very nice work... are you going to paint over the spots you milled down so they won't corrode in saltwater?

I've been mounting the primer fittings between the carbs and use an anodized aluminum T-fitting so you only have to run one line in.

I Know I need to pant over the areas machined, but I think I will get some clear coat and a small paint brush and clear coat the areas.
The fuel pump cap was looking ugly so I bead blasted it and gave it a quick coat of ceramic paint to see how it will stand up to salt and fuel.

A friend of mine has a poweder coating setup Im going to try and use on another set after I machine them.

Yeah I wanted to run my SXR carbs like #.0 is talkign about but there isn't enough room between the two carbs for the primer fittings and the Tee fitting :(

Worse than that the primmer plugs and nipple fittings fit loose inside the holes once I removed the choke plates. So I guess I will have to JB Weld them or use a gasoline proof epoxy glue.

I also bought some of Jet Ski Solutions billet mixture knobs. Well they won't work on my SXR carbs with doing the same exact machining that Quick Mick did. The oversized barrels hit the cast on stops on the carbs. Looks like I will have to find a local machine shop to knock them down for me.

If you cant find a machine shop in your price range, strip em and send them to me and I can do it. I wont even charge you.

I started mine a year ago, but have been collecting parts for years prior to that. And by starting I mean taking it apart... I need to get cracking on it.

what fittings are you using to do that with #0? I tried to do that with my 38's but there was not enough space for the 2 hose barbs and the Tee

McMaster-Carr sells these little aluminum barbed tube fittings that come anodized in a few different colors that will fit right between the carbs.

The 1/8" fittings work well with primmer line and the 0.17" works great for stock fuel line and the 0.25" size works well with 1/4" Tygon line.

They're on page 145 of the McMaster catalog part number 5058K55 and come in straight, right angle and tees.

DONE. I moved the primer fittings and put them between the carbs with a T.
Yes this looks much better.
Will post pics later.
