I'd start with something coarse and see how fast you go through the material. It's pretty slow going but take extra care when getting close to the edge. Expect to be grinding for an hour or more. Make sure it's nice and smooth and then really make sure you chamfer the edges or you'll snag a ring. Good luck... I'm pretty happy with mine.

I start off with a carbon cutter and get it to the basic shape. Then use 36-80 grit sanding drums. Then finish it out hand sanding with 80-400 grit to give it a really smooth finish.

Hand sanding...wow. You guys are serious. I just used that steel dremel brush and smoothed everything with that as best as I could.

definatly need a carbide. the stones just wear away.. they are crap. get yourself a small carbide and some sanding drums and go to town. count on more then an hour if your gonna take your time and do it right, and try to make both exhaust ports the same, transfers the same ext. what you do to one cylinder, make sure its the same on the other basically. a little extra time now will end in a better job. good luck show us how it turns out!!

It going to end up about as well as "do it yourself" heart surgery. His questions were the equivalent of "what kind of knife should I use" and "how do I keep the patient from crying"?

Completely disagree... My porting was done by myself based on the sport port templates. It works well for me. Is it Team Scream? Of course not. Did it cost $300-$400? Of course not. Is it better than stock? You bet your @ss it is!

Ive got a little trick to pass on. After you finish grinding the ports, take a piston without rings, & use it to check the shape & height of each port. Slide piston into each clylinder & measure with your caliper from top of cylinder. Make sure it is right on or it will run like shizzzzz. Have fun grinding!
