what is porting ? is it expensive? are there different types of porting? If I have A 62T case, and a 61x cyl. what can i do to it to make it freestyle worthy? does dan lamey have a web site? thanks
lets not forget that steve @ watercraft factory is an excellent engine porter also as well as a great contributor to the sport.Matt_E said:Lamey doesn't do Yamaha stock porting - he makes custom, high dollar cylinders. Call Paul (JrMagoos) if you're interested in a Lamey.
Porting refers to changing the physical layout and shape of fuel intake ports, transfer ports, exhaust ports, all found in mostly the cylinder, and a little bit in the cases.
This is something you should pay a professional to do for you - expect to pay at least $300 for this, more like $500 (you supply the cylinder!). I believe case porting adds another couple hundred.
Give Paul @ JrMagoos a call (www.jrmagoos.net)
Oh, there are several "packages" of porting, ie race porting, and freestyle porting.
You would want freestyle porting, which greatly increases your engines power all throughout the RPM range, but mostly on bottom and mid ranges.
