possible hood seal solution?

so i decided to spend a couple hours on the ski this afternoon. doing some little things to it to get it a little better. Wired up my bilge so i didnt have to jump it off my battery (i think this is why my battery kept losing charge quickly).

So I had been using some cheap weather stripping from the hardware store for my hood seal. It worked alright starting to wear out. Anyway, I looked under the deck and found an old hose. I thought I'd give it a try. So I cut a little section and put it in, didnt compress enough and the latch wouldnt close all the way.

I ended up cutting it a little bit bigger than halfway around and kind of rolling it into the channel. Seems to clamp really well and looks like it'll seal nicely.

Just wanted to know if anyone had tried this yet or not? I'll update if its good or not when I go out on the lake in a few minutes.

Sorry for the novel, kind of bored here...

ok so just got back from out on the lake, gotta wait for my brother to get off the other computer so i can put up pictures, honestly it is really ghettod but it seemed to work fine.

my hood has a really bad mod done to it, basically someone before me glassed the vents then realized that only leaving one bit open wasnt enough, so they cut a square into the front side of the hood, and it kinda lets water in pretty easily.

but with the hose seal set up after a sub the bilge would go for a little bit, no big problems so far,

I'm going to look into the auto window rubber tomoro.

im guessing thats a "why are you", basically because i dont feel like paying the 116 or whatever it is for the oem seal. If i find something that works to improve skiing for me and it doesnt cost anything why not do it.

If it gets you out on the water, that's all that matters.

The XFT hood seal is one of the best I've seen...check them out. It's a good alternative to the oem job. The oem seals are good, but they aren't perfect. There are better options out there.
