power factor pipe question

I just bough a rickter xfs hull with a power factor pipe and was wondering if it was possible to put that pipe on what I have.. my engine is a 701 61x single carb... can I just rejet my carb or do I need to change it for a bigger one?

thanks

you can rejet but performance may not be all there as this pipe is not really made for a stock engine combo.will still work better than a stock pipe however.

What do you base that statement on?
The PFP pipe is a modded type 9 FP, that is designed to work on 701. So yes it will work fine on your 701. I would look into at dual carb setup to get more power out of it.

based on the fact that the pfp is not a modded type 9 in it's tuning and peak rpm is much higher than what op's stock 701x will make max power at.
the pfp was never intended to extract the most power out of a stock 701.
even the type 9 you mention was tuned for more than a stock single carb 701x.
very simple!

Okai i guess its just a coincidence that it looks like that first PFP is a factory pipe modded to lie down.

I guess its also a coincedence that the Type 9 produces way more power than a b pipe on a superjet limitied setup, almost 10 HP over a B pipe.

02' era race pipes like that you had to be holding it wide open to get the added power. Elsewhere in the throttle range they weren't much to brag about.

Bpipes had the edge in throttle response, if you're just blipping around, that's the pipe you want

Ok so if i understand, my pipe will work with my motor. Seeing that its a stock motor, i won’t get the full performance but will it be better than the stock one? Will i still get the performance of a b- pipe?

No, look at the dyno chart above. The B-Pipe makes more power everywhere than the other pipe until you get above about 6,700 rpm. But it will still be better than stock. This is why everyone here with anything close to a 701 wants a B pipe and why they are still so expensive even used.

You could run it as wet pipe and get more bottom end fir that 701

Couple years ago I ran a PFP on a 61x 701 in my chan. Took a tank or two to adjust to the power curve. Once I did there was no going back to a Bpipe. It was easier to flip than the 62t 701, bpipe setup that was in it previously. I liked it so much I bought a dry pipe for my fx1 too.

What was your carb setting. Single or double carb did you have?

no need to get stuck on stupid but as you pointed out " limited" in a 62t which is not what the op has with his single carb 61x and perhaps 10hp gain but at an rpm that the op's motor will never see under load!!
also the divergent and convergent cones and stinger size and length are different from a type 9.
okai?

it will work much better than the oem pipe but probably not as well as the b pipe would with your combo.
just run it and see if you like it.try it with water too,it may just work well enough for your expectations.
