I'm going to repaint the bottom deck of my Chan this winter. A little clear has peeled off, and there are some other small scrapes and gouges i'd like to address.
I will be using automotive grade base clear from a local auto parts store.
My plan is to feather out any ugly spots, fill with phenolic balloons etc.
320 all the areas I intend to paint
Spray adhesion promoter
Spray primer, (wet sand @320)
Spray Base, (wet sand @500)
Spray Clear, (not sure what grit to sand at)
Spray Clear ( " " )
Spray Clear, wet sand up to 2000grit and polish.
I've seen the paint on some skis (including another Chan) delaminate when the bottom is painted. I'm hoping to avoid that issue if at all possible.
Does anyone have any specific suggestions on technique beyond what i've listed here?
