pulled motor now no start....

So I pulled the motor on my 93 sx 750 to put in a new stator flywheel bilge etc...got everything together and does not fire.
Narrowed it down to fuel issue...fuel pump seems not to be drawing fuel from the tank. I can see that from the clear lines.
So after messing around with it for awhile it will pull fuel and run when I put my hand over the carb...to create vacuum. I'm wondering what's going on....New fuel pump??? Vacuum leak??? Can't really figure it out any help will be great...

Was the ski running before you took everything apart, or did it sit for while? When was the last time the carburetor was rebuilt? Are you certain that you put the fuel/return and vacuum lines on the carb correctly?

Sounds like either the needle is stuck or the diaphram is shot I would start bu rebuilding also could be the puls line or the screen in the carb

Well I seemed to have fixed the problem slightly. .

Had lines switched around. But it has no top end power full throttle is like quarter throttle.

So I'm gonna do a carb rebuild kit. Any suggestions??? Sparks good, compression good, not.over heat g...how any turns on the card adjustment screws??? Thanks again

I would strongly recommend a rebuild and get the good kit for $50 with the screens and needle also make sure all fuel hose fittings are tight with either clamps or zip ties it could also be sucking air another question is the drain down on the bottom of the motor is that blocked off or not because those are known to leak and cause all sorts of problems like what you are experiencing but a good place to start is with a carb rebuild

Yea I asked for pics because I wanted to see how you fuel line and pulse Line are hooked up also I wanted to see where your idle set screw is set

Thanks for the ideas. I will post some pics as soon as I get back to where the carb is...

I have it off of the ski now so the lines are not hooked up to the machine if that what your looking for.

Also, While the motor was out, I bought a block off kit for the drain plug in the crankcase so that should be good.

I guess my biggest concern would be the rebuild kit and to adjust the fuel screws correctly. Is there a baseline turn out people do??
3 turns out on hi 3 turns on low for example or something like that?

I would start at 3/4 high and 3/4 low then tune from there. The block off plate may have solved your problem to be honest if that drain was sucking air which it is known to do it will cause problems like that my pro ther had that same thing did the block off and then the ski ran great

Nothing past 2 turns on those high and low speed screws. Always start out fat (1.5 - 2 turns out from all the way in) and lean out as I ride and check plugs for color.

Pm me your email address, I will snap a few pics of my service manual and send to you. (scanner is down)

got the carb kit fired it up...idoled perfectly...soon as you hit the gas it revs up and then stays reved up....very weird problem...not really sure what it is at this point. any ideas?
