Pump bearing and seal quesiton...

Looking at new pump bearings and seals. This thing has been apart for almost 3 years, so I'm not sure where all the parts may have wondered off to.

I was using Riva's site to find what I need. Looking here, and I'm not too clear on a couple items. I need 2-#20s, and a #22, but what is #21. Is there 2 seals in that area? Also #40, I can't seem to find. They want $28.85 for a washer? Anything special about this washer?

if you go to a bearing shop you should get them for about 1/2 price and get a better bearing

I've got some nice Japanese crank bearings from my local shop before...

Picked up the housing bearing and both pump bearings today $30 for all 3 with tax. Sure beats the $132 plus shipping from Riva.

One more question: All of the bearings are actually the same, but the ones in the pump are not a sealed bearing and the bearing house said to just remove the seals from those. What would be the harm in running sealed bearings in the pump housing instead of grease packed open bearings? Seems like running sealed bearings in a sealed housing would really help with the deterioration of said bearings from any water contamination.

I'll still have to buy the seals from a dealer. They couldn't cross the seal numbers.

I was planning on it. I would actually like to start putting together a list of bearings and seals reference for the tech section.

Here's the numbers from the stock ones:
Mid-Shaft housing: Koyo 6205RD
Pump housing: Koyo 6205R

The replacement bearing I got was also a Koyo bearing PN 6205RSC3 on the box and the bearing physically had PN 6205RS on it.

I think I'll give it a shot leaving them sealed. I can't figure out a reason not too. Factory probably went open because it was cheaper.

but the machine shop took the cover off to open them up like the stockers!
maybe it's part of the design....

I think that since there are sealed and unsealed versions of the same bearing, distributors would have to stock both. With only stocking sealed versions, if the cust doesn't want the seal, he just removes it. Probably a lot easier on them and their overhead.
