Blaster pump install problem

I'm trying to put the pump back on my blaster but there is a 1/2 inch gap and i've tried hitting it with a rubber mallet but with out any luck. Can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong? thanks

You took it apart wrong. You should have taken the 4 bolts to the top of the ski out and pulled the whole assembly. The easiest thing to do would be take the remaining 2 bolts to the top out and then assemble the pump as a whole unit with the 4 long bolts. Then put it back in.

I had it all out of the ski but it still had a 1/2 inch gap. Would switching the stock impeller for a Solas one make a difference?

I'm not sure how you have a gap then. The wear ring should slip over the prop.

Make sure that sure that you slide the wear ring evenly over the impeller, as the impeller has a tight enough fit that just a fraction will cause it to not go down all the way around. Also if you are using mixed pump parts from various 144mm pumps, that you have any locating pins lined up properly as well. As stated above, put the pump together out of the ski and then slide it in as a whole unit.

I finally got it in. It just took some force to make it slide all the way in. Works good as new. Thanks for all the help!
