pump shim

I was looking at the parts breakdown for the waveblaster pump and it shows a pump shim. Should I be running one? I haven't had one on it since I got it.

I believe that's an impeller shim that also acts as a slinger to protect lip seals in pump. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I've been thinking about this. It looks like it inserts into the housing in front of the bearings and acts like a shield. I think I will go ahead and install one.

I usually leave them out, brings the impeller closer to the vanes for more pump efficiency........

We run these on every pump we build. Yamaha added them to save the seals and bearings. If you beach your ski and dont have one of these you will wear out you seals quicker. Cheap insurance
