what mod are you wanting........... Reverse Bore (Freestyle setup where you bore the bottom side out from 44mm to 48mm), Taper Bored (Race setup), Buckshot/Novi mod, where they press in the Bell Shaped assembly and re work the circuits.................

I was actually looking at the blackjack. I think its taper bored among other things. We played with one last year and I liked it but I was told watercraft factory did a mod that was more for freestyle.

i dont think they make blackjack carbs anymore. I got a carb from Keith over at Head Enterprises, and i love it. Its a taperbored, and the inner venturi is modified also. Much better than an oem 44/46

yes, Blackjacks are still produced, Jetworks makes them........

Taperbored carbs are for top end, not bottom end.......... you would be better off with a TLR or WCF modded carb, or a Head Enterprises carb.

How interesting! I'd imagine carb mods are a well kept secret . . . it seems to me that they'd be quite easy to do.

What is the idea/purpose of boring out the bottom of the carb?

It is all in the signal............... works really well for low end, but the carb with these mods cannot be run WOT......... they lean out.........

It will hit like a light switch with this mod if porting is done to Match......TLR does all his motors for this setup............ same setup that Rick Roy runs.... if that tells you anything!!!!!!!! I went back to duals because 1. I got a smokin deal on them, 2. you know who I ride with, I could not cruise at a decent speed with the single............. not fun.........

The Head Enterprises carb is taperbored on top. Works great for low end punch. Keith has been running it in his skis for years.
On another note, i have heard 0 complaints from people that use the WCF 48 mod.

I think my ski drinks more gas than any other ski on the planet. I have a 200 high and an even bigger low speed jet in my carb.

i originally had a 200 high and 160 low, but it wasnt feeding enough juice low. so i ran it without a jet, and that was a bit too much. It would hit, but with delay. So i took a 140, drilled it out a bunch, and behold, it was there. I had Head Ent try a few diff things with that one, and i was very happy with the outcome. Whatever carb mod you do, you'll definitely be happier than with the stocker.

Just my opinion, but if you have to run that large of jets, then you have a very unresponsive carb. The bore is too big, so it's lost the airflow/pressure drop so you have to run huge jets to let enough fuel in.

Just talked to Art at jetworks and he said their carbs are designed for bottom end punch Although you do still get top end gain.He was also very helpful on other information I needed.

I Know 2nd nature has a limited blaster with a blackjack and he didnt seam to drink any more fuel than my Buddys limited Blaster with stock carb. I think its more about delivering the fuel more efficiantly. Im also interested in the WCF mod I just Dont have any first hand Knowlege of it. And Havn't heard anybody say much about it.

Also cant a low signal can make tuning a nightmare?

besides my little knowledge of tuning, i have nothing but praise for this carb. It is 100 times better than a stock 44 or 46. The snap is all there, and its way cheaper than a full spec or novi.
