I am new to this trying to put together a stroker motor but I am getting the idea a lot better now. My question is what on a stroker crank makes it so much money. I go to crank works website and they have its $400 to move the crank pin to what stroke you want. I am sure I am missing something but what eles do you need to build a stroker crank?

$400 must be to modify your old crank. The more expensive stroker cranks are brand new, and they have custom made webs. They're $$$ because the volume is low.

Are there any threads on here that talk about how to build a stroker and details about what rod lenths, port sizes, cylinder spacers, etc?

No, That takes years and years of experience to learn what combination's work for your application...Race stroker setups most of the time don't work for our specialty field of freestyle as mostly we don't need a lot of top end speed, freestyle riders want more throttle hit power down lower in the powerband.

I think the $400 price from crankworks just reflects the welding/machine work only to the crankshaft webs, no parts, and no labor on dis-assembly or assembly.

ok I think I get it that everyone has the own secret way of building their stroker. I did have one question about two of you motors. What are the pros and cons of your 5 mil stoker motors vs. your 865 big bore kit with stock stroke?

5mm stroker 828cc is old school technology for me now, this was based off of racing mod ski classes way back in the mid 90's, but went through a lot of changes to become a freestyle engine package, this engine is a non-PV stock 61X cylinder that's re-sleeved and bored to 85mm + the 5mm crank = 828 cc's.
The SS 865 cylinder is product of new ways to make HP with a totally new Power Valve/7 port cylinder design and today's (ours) technology using our own custom pistons manufactured by Wiseco to my very stringent weight property's I needed to achieve with this engine package. (Wiseco has screwed me with their 760 pistons (757mo series) now, as they're not pro-lites any more and now are a very heavy piston, I call them TURDS, as they are saving $$ by not doing the extra machining like they used to do.
The SS 865 package runs very close to the 8mm engines...see testing posts here:

Not even close for a lot snapper engine to pull off even bigger freestyle tricks.
The 828 is powerful engine it's strong points are very smooth power and has a killer surf power curve, whereas the SS 865 is the TOP FUEL engine for a stock stroke/cost effective package.
This SS865 is a very good flatwater engine and more than you need power for the surf for the average rider.
