R&D dominator + VF3 as good as R&D M16??

I am planning a billet Lamey PV 89mm bore motor with a 8mm stroker crank. I am trying to find out what the best reed/intake manifold setup is. I have heard of the M16, but I have never actually seen it for sale. It is available through Hot Products or only directly through R&D?

I have seen a part number for a R&D manifold made for VF reeds, is it as big as the one made for the M16 reeds?

Thanks,

Aaron

I don't think there are enough people with experience on VF3's at this point (as you state in your title). Most people have been running VF2's up to now. Here's a thread showing the difference between Dominators for M-16s and Dominators for VF2's.

I still have the single carb on my Team Scream 860cc Motor and am very happy with the performance and never tried it with duals, but am running dual 48's on my Jetworks 930cc motor. Although I have not done a side by side comparison on the 930 motor, I believe that there is a point (in ccs) where you absolutely need dual carbs to have crisp throttle response and a wide power band that carries you through to 7000rpm.

Wow, I saw that thread and thought that was a Dominator for the stock reeds, but you say the small one is for the VF? If so then the difference between the VF Dom and the M-16 Dom is HUGE. Looks like it's gonna be M-16's for me then.

Thanks,

Aaron

I personally think the M-16/dominator setup is the best on the market. The reeds supplied by R&D suck and will fail quickly. Jetworks has replacement petals that last forever. If M-16's weren't available I'd run V-Force 2's or the new 3's. I my opinion the Full Spec reed cage is inferior to the M-16 design, but the manifold that they make has a nicer fit and finish. Same manifold design, but better casting and machine work. O-rings instead of gaskets too.

We were playing around at the shop and discovered something cool...Polaris reeds almost fit. They are BIG too. I think with some massaging we can make them fit. I've got some V-Force Polaris reeds here too.

I absolutely LOVE my vForce 3 reeds. I replaced a set of Carbon Tech reeds and the difference in bottom end hit is quite noticeable. I had to jet up from a 70 pilot to a 80 pilot jet just by changing the reeds. The difference was like when I installed a flow control valve on my stinger. Of course this is on my 701, dunno how much difference you'd feel in a stroker...
