Super Jet R&d dry pipe mounting

I bought a sj over the winter with a r&d dry pipe. I read alot of negative stuff about them as far as them cracking and was hoping to get it thrue the summer then buy a b pipe. It didn't make it till end of summer the front mount had broken at the welds. Should be an easy repair. The rest of the pipe is fine. I was wondering what everyones thoughts are on welding a tab on the pipe like factory pipe has with vibration mounts in-between the head and pipe. Would this prevent the cracking issues or is it a waste of time?
 
I just did the same thing on my riva dry pipe, the rear bracket had broke so i welded up the mounting brackets making them much thicker around the holes and redrilled the holes to accept rubber bushings so there is no metal to metal contact, Im hopeing that the bushings will now wear out first instead of the pipe
