R&D intake fit issue

Got a brand new r&d intake grate and it doesn’t seem to fit. Wanted to post here to see if Im missing something before I make it fit with my grinder. Not really in favour of using a stack of washers but willing to try it before cutting up my new intake grate. Surely I’m not the first to run into this issue. Then there's the pump shoe issue where they don’t seem to line up. I need a new one either way, hoping the blowsion aluminum replacement will have a better fit.

I didn't have to grind on my FX1 R&D grate but I know some other manufacturers grates and plates do have to be modified to fit. I would wait until you get your new pump shoe and then modify the grate if you need to.

Blaster stock pump shoes are different than superjets. They are longer. Most that break replace with superjet pump shoe. The back of a superjet grate won’t fit a blaster shoe and hence the front doesn’t line up either.

back in the day R&D made an aluminum pump shoe that fit well with that grate. if you’re using it for racing it was pretty awesome, hung down super low and scooped a lot of water. I’ve also use that same grate with the stock super jet shoe and it worked fine as well until a log jump with flat tires ended it
