a day in the life of a freestyler by yours truly:

show up

wait for everyone to admire the sick new wrap on your carbon hull, theyre jealous already, you can feel it

spend 20 minutes putting on newest jetpilot gear

top off the 1.5 gallon cart tank with 110 sonoco. only the best, you cant run pump gas when you go as hard as you do

spend 30 minutes checking out your own engine, grab every hose and wiggle it a few times, shake the sick laydown pipe, make sure its in place for the sick aerials youre about to do

spend another 30 minuted yabbering to ANYONE closeby about your billet 1200(which only the team riders get, youre on the TEAM), because you just KNOW they want to hear it

start it, let them hear it. they need to know how wicked your new waterbox is

back in the water

get it on the stand

spend 45 minutes annoying anyone walking with by your freestyle tips and tricks. YOU have all the knowledge about anything freestyle and they need to know that

start it, warm it up way more than enough by brapping it more than 18 times, just so everyone can hear it

finally put on the latest giro helmet, visor removed of course

idle out

spend 5 minutes kicking your feet into your footholds as hard as you can. if you dont do this, you are a poser. im serious, kick them harder. if they feel snug, remove them and do it again.

once locked in, give it a good couple braps, just enough for a cool 180.

repeat the 180 about 7 times

try a 360 and fail

ride in

put it on the stand

make sure you blow it out 19 times, just to make sure its clear. you CANT have any water in your sicknasty engine dawg

complain to everyone on the beach how there are no wakeboard boats out right now. if the wake boats were out you'd obviously be doing 540 flips

spend another 45 minutes telling everyone within earshot how sick your freestyle build is. they might not have heard you the first time

must be getting late, better go get the truck

back in, load the ski up

take off the gear. its probably worn out by now, time for new threads because you thrashed so hard today

spend another 35 minutes telling anyone still near you how sick your billet cylinder is

wait for them to compliment your sick freestyle masterpiece and your sick skills

then its time to go

head home

when you get home be sure to tell all your buds and wife that werent there how hard you went out there

then you think the ski mightve had a hesitation. better yard it apart and replace everything
inside.

might as well upgrade to the 1400 now. youve outgrown the 1200 anyways and you just gotta have it to do all the latest tricks

hopefully it will be done next season.

I only like fast racing.

I'm not into that slow stuff.

I like to cheat by going around the buoys at high speed. That's my secret. Don't tell anyone.

Post of the year :D

A good friend of mine says it's called personal water craft because it's just that. Personal. Everyone likes different things. I myself love the racing part of our sport. When I was young I would pretend to race my 550 pp around in a cove. Now at 41 I have raced twice at our local ProWaterCross rounds. We have a small group here that set up buoys a couple times a month. My dream would be to have a permanent ride spot where we could leave buoys set up and get more practice. Also to host a smaller regional race.
I find the race guys and freestyle/Freeride guys to be equally nice and helpful. I've been able to ride a few different set ups and respect the hell out of what they can do on those machines.

I started doing a couple races last year to get myself into it and I love it. Hoping our little regional races can start to gather some more support and get more people on the line! Apparently back in the day there used to be four times the amount of skis out there as you see now. So true about the freestyle guys up above. Soooo much talk and so little action.. Not true for everyone of course.

That was pretty good!!!!!!!!!!! My signature thing was as soon as motor was cleared out I would nail my first trick. Talking 20 seconds or less after getting on it! Unless there was a huge set of boat wakes coming thru, but would wait to get on ski or ride off and come back to let them clear.......... Gil use to ride around for 2 minutes before he would do his first bunny hop.

Ive only raced jetskiis a couple times for fun nothing serious. I have raced dirtbikes my whole life. Riding leisure is fun but the racing really gets your blood flowing. It's a mix of excitement and nervousness for me but it all gets left at the gate, put your head down and go!
