Super Jet Raider squarenose fixed steer hood

Well I've had everything I needed to have to make a fixed steer hood for a squarenose for quite awhile but just never got around to doing it. Now that it's almost winter I decided to get going on it. My plan is to make it similar to a Tom21 hood main thing is to make the air intakes as far down on te back and have that the back the only place to get air from. After the hood is done my plan as of now is to flat deck it and put some sort of seat in the tray sort of like a typhoon or a mini blaster but I'm not going to attach the seat to the hood so I can always use the hood on any other ski. Tonight I got everything together and all cut up ready to do some glasswork tomorrow. I just have to sand everything then start piecing it together.

uh.. your quite a ways off from ready for glass. gonna shape that hood to fit? sand it? grind out the cracks in the raider top?

Sanded everything down today and trimmed the raider hood. Glassed the bottom of the pole to the hood just waiting for it to dry an then fill the gaps with foam and glass over the top

Happened to be able to get the pole all glassed in the hood. Resin should be all cured in the morning. Plans for tomorrow are to get the raider hood fitted and glassed on the the squarenose hood. Damn this thigs coming along fast!

Didn't get much done today but need as many opinions as I can in this where do you think I Should have the steering. Far back like the Tom21 hoods and all other fixed steer or further foward? You shorten your pole to get foward more in the ski. Why would you brig the fixed steer back? Any options will help

IMO I cant stand when the bars arent straight in line with the stem angle. The bars swing funky. Lots of people tried this with the Kawi gen2 steering stem because most think its too far back too and so they just tilted the bars forward to make up for it and they hated it. Over on PWCtoday in the X2 section there is a thread that has lots of different measurements for different fixed steer setups and reviews of them.

I ride with a friend that has a tom21 on his RN and another friend has the 24-7 on his RN. I prefer the 24-7 setup but some prefer the tom when ridden back to back. The 24-7 is more like a gen1 X2 setup. The tom is further back and in your crotch while riding. Hard to get over the bars aggresive IMO.

Well I decided where the steerig was going to go and I riveted the hood down. Now I'm making air breathers in the back that will come all the way down to the tray similar to any aftermarket hood design. My plan is to frame it with welding rods then shrinkwrap over the rods and finally glass over it all, hoping the resin doesn't bond to the shrinkwrap and I should be able to pull it all out from underneath

Here it all all ready to glass just duct tape over and glassed it. Just waiting for the resin to dry. Won't be working in it tomorrow. Surf report is 6-8ft looks like I'll be out riding!

Have to wait for the resin to dry on the breathers to add another piece to fill it. Will either shape it will foam and glass it or seal it from the inside and leave that void visible not sure yet

I'm trying to do the same thing but with a rn do u have more pics of the process you used like how you ran steering cable, and what steering you used. Did you use the raiders steering? Also would love to see finished ski.

SUBSCRIBED! I have a SN and a Raider hood in my garage! I remember Bruce or Ed talking about one of these setups done with a SN and a raider hood and I have been staring at both of them for 3 weeks not trying to decide how to mash them together! It must be my destiny to build one of these things!
