RC jet boat

I usually have my first ride on Easter Sunday, since my ski isn't ready we got out the RC boats instead. The jet boat likes smother water for sure. My dad is a sailboat nut so I got him a RC one, first time trying it out.

I bought one of those wakesetter boats and decided to return it, I didnt even feel comfortable putting in a cheap brushless setup lol. Those things are soo cheasy.

Is that electric? Where did you get it? =)

Yea its electric, I got the boat off ebay for about 50 bucks then gutted it and stuffed it full of nice electronics. Stock it wouldnt go fast enough to plane and was very hard to turn. 250 bucks worth of hobby grade stuff cured that issue nicely. The motor is out of a 450 sized heli (t-rex). I more than maxed out the stock pump, even with lots of mods it cavitates pretty bad.

This is what you need to do.. Design a mechanism that can distribute weight to the front of the boat so you can activate it right when the boat is going off of a wave. That way it starts the rotation. I feel like trim wouldn't make it rotate all the way around, rather it would go up at a steep angle flop. Or maybe you could have extra weight in the front and trim at the same time. that would make it flip!

The weight would have to go to the back of the boat, a front flip would never happen. If I positioned the battery at the rear a little and had trim a back flip is possible. with my setup I keep most of the weight at the front to keep the nose down, If I upgraded to pump to a larger one and had trim a "off idle" back flip is doable. Like skis the sky is the limit with power and drivetrain, just depends on how much money you want to sink in one.

Well what I was talking about isn't really similar to the physics of a ski.. This is what I meant : the boat goes straight up a wave with a steep lip, and when its straight up in the air, it would rotate along the front axis where the weight is. Because if it was off of a lip like that, it would already be leaning partially backward, and just a little weight would cause it to keep rotating backwards.

Here's my toy boat.
Thats sweet, You running 6s on that? It rips like crazy. I should have went with a hull like that instead of modding my villian IV. I put a single brushless motor in it out of my slash 4x4 and changed it to a belt drive and had nothing but problems out of it. Too much rpm for a boat and the kevlar belts couldnt stay together, not to mention that hull is not good for anything above 30mph. Its more of a toy compared to yours...

I ran a 3.5cc tunnel hull boat for a few years. Lots of fun and fast.

I like planes better though.

Planes are fun but between cars, skis, rc cars, rc boats ect. I decided not to take the plunge on them, I stick to a simulator for those. The reset button is way cheaper than a rebuild haha

Just get a foam plane to start, I can't count how many times I've just Gorilla Glued mine back together. I've literally stuck it in the ground on crash landing and glued everything back together with maybe a broken prop at most.

My buddy did the simulator for a week or two before actually flying his plane. First time out he took off, rolled, loops, and landed with only a hop. I couldn't believe he didn't crash.
