Im no surfer, but just like anything. Certain equipment has its place. when you go up against waves like that, youre taking a risk no matter how much you train, what equipment youre using, and who youre with. Blaming the board flat out is just ludicrous.
if the guy in front of him was on a real surfboard he wouldnt have faded deeper than he already was infront of a 50ft wall of whitewater..
i saw a 48shot sequence of it..
the guy that got hurt was setting up/angling for a turn where u normally would while the guy on the wavejet was going strait/turning deeper because he was out of control..im sure he didn't want to get destroyed either but he didn't have much choice on that thing..unfortunately the guy that got snaked got the short end of the stick..riding equipment that dosnt work in conditions like that puts other people at risk..same thing could have happened with a regular board but it prob wouldn't have because the guy would have actually taken a proper line so he didn't get demolished by whitewater the size of a 5story building
he is sponsored by them and tries to ride that thing from time to time..i don't think he's made one yet..
the thing really is pointless..its not like u can throttle up into turns like a ski..if u know how to surf catching waves isnt hard unless its really big and when it is u need a board that works perfectly because there is no room for error..
the only thing i could see it being good for is for people that are paralyzed so they can lay on it and catch waves..
