Other Rear Truck crane lift for your ski

I've always wondered how these guys put their skis in their truck beds, especially if you dont have a second guy to help lift it. Saw one guy try and back his truck down into the water so that the bed was level with the water. unfortunately the dock wasnt cemented that far and he ended up stuck in the mud....AND filled his cab with water. lmao. it was hilarious. Wish i would have had a camera.

If you have your beach cart or a stand, roll the ski next to the truck gate. get on the bed, grab the nose of the ski, pull, drag onto the bed, done.
Same think when you unload, just you are off the truck behind the beach cart.

what about at a local lake on the dock? we cant hand launch here in CO. I suppose i could just walk down the dock but im sure as hell not dragging that thing back up it to the truck.

Most we have here is ramps access. You load/unload before the ramp. Pulling the cart on the ramp requires little muscle but its not a big deal.. There is also little trick to get the ski on the cart from the water. If there is no ramp or direct water access then, disregard my way of loading/unloading :)

I forgot!
I use to use the boat launch when I pulled a trailer. Then I got the veedub. Our launch is steep, motor in the back, old brakes and manual tranny. I just dolly it down now and never have to wait anymore. The crane pulls it out of the truck and onto the low riding dolly I have. Sometimes I have used the winch to pull the dolly and ski up the sand bank when I am parked near the water. Sure beats pulling it by yourself. Really I hardly ever ride by myself but it is nice to be able to load into the truck bed and not pull a trailer. I built my crane with some vickedness yah? And a stick welder.

I bought the Harbor freight one for my last truck. It worked great. check out my Facebook for more pics. I used to load and unload all myself. It worked great. Especially if i wanted to bring the boat out to the beach too.

Loading the ski into the truck by myself

Gives you the option to still tow a trailer for other beach toys

Not only does the 139 dollar Harbor freight crane winch up, it also has a bottle jack which is way easier to use then the crank, and its extentable. You will need to brace it.. I almost ripped the bed floor up the first time loading with out a brace

I know this might not work for everyone.. But, my setup I was thinking of.. Is going to be a winch setup in the front of the bed, with some sort of PVC tubing (reinforced with wood in core) as a ramp up to the bed (ski only).. That way I can just pull the ski up the ramp into the bed. A hand winch would even work... A come-along even.
But, the beach cart pretty much eliminates the need to have a second man, provided there are no walls to get over. You could also hook the winch up to the beach cart and pull the ski/cart up to the back even.

Not the greatest pic..but this is my setup parked out in front of my house. Harbor freight lift with 1/2" steel plate on top of the deck and 5/8" aluminum plate underneath. Works great.
