budget replace >> take engine out, complete with e box ,flywheel cover off, flywheel off, stator off, take sparks plugs out, lossen coupler and take off ,both pistons equal in height, turn engine upside down, all case screws loose, bedplate screws loose, pull lower half case, lift crank just enough that you can slide old seals out and new ones in, drop crank back, make sure barings are all centered and placed right in nipples, lower case back on with 1211 ,re assemble....done, did quite a few so far with no problems and more than 4 years running time ...
Any engine builders back hair is standing up straight i bet :0) and they might tell you different, just my budget solution
