In the middle of slicing up my 02 RN and im trying to decide how much i want to cut off the back of my hull. Leaning towards 6+/- inches (where the second set of rideplate inserts reside on a square)
What say the experts? Is this to much for a combination boat both flat and surf? Im doing a cats at the same time... Most builds i see stasy in the 3" range.

The members who have gone that extreme on a chop usually regret it from what i've seen. I wouldn't cut it farther than 4". If you do, i'd have a contingency plan for adding extensions, like these... http://www.blowsion.com/products/641-carbon-fiber-hull-extensions-yamaha-super-jet.aspx

All you would need to do is glass the inserts in while rebuilding the back of the ski during the chop.

You may never need them (you could make them yourself fairly easily I would think), but being able to add that length back on might be useful.

Haven ridden a bunch of dirt bikes and surfboards...u get used to almost anything but if ur trying to have a combo effect,

I agree with swapmeet on this one...i love having the option...less regret too

I read somewhere, someone had like 5 inches but with tubbies and really liked their ski

I can't remember who
