Registration numbers

can registration numbers be put on the side of the poles, or on the bottom part of the hull, under where i have the yamah sticker? Im not sure if they are supposed to be visible while riding or just be on somewhere even if under water, as long as you can tilt the ski a little and see them?

where do they sell different varaity of number designs, most places i check seem to have only one or 2 different designs.

anything but block black letters are illegal in California. All the fancy colored decals are not legal on boats, but I have never heard of any body getting ticketed for it.

I'm not sure on the placement situation.

Well Im sure it various by state but usually the mandated spot is right where they are on the blue ski. Now is a patrol men going to give you a ticket for having it somewhere else? Not sure but is it worth the risk of a possible ticket and having to change it?

In WI here the numbers I believe just have to contrast the color of the boat and be 3" block letters.

Placement is completely based on the state, but 3" block letters that contrast and are visible on both sides of the hull are pretty much standard. denniskirk.com has a bunch of differant colors and styles. However, I do not run the standard set by my state on any of my skis and have never received a ticket as long as they were able to see it when they pulled up along side me.

yea my blue one doesnt have block letters, the letters that came with my 96 were not block, but i supose location of the numbers is important incase someone needs to write them down and they cant see them because they are under water.

I decided to go ahead and place the yamaha sticker on the hood and this way i can probably put the numbers at the end of the ski or by the pissers.

I would love black block letters on my flatblack SJ, but TN. says contrasting color so I have non, stealthy but not healthy for the wallet, so far no ticket but I am sure its coming.

ExoticSigns.com has multiple patterns and color choices. If you choose to go with a flashy pattern it gets more expensive, but for standard text and numbers its like $25 for a set. You can also slant the text and numbers if you wish. What I like about them is that they can send you a color chart of all their colors so you can match whatever color you need to. I havent put my #'s on my new ski yet, but ill use them when i do.

You haven't ridden in the Panama City area yet, apparently. I was chastised for having my stickers on my pole---according to Florida law, the registration numbers MUST be on the front portion of all watercraft, just above the bondline.

pleaze do not put the registration #'s in a hidden place, your just setting your self up for the rangers/boat police to bug you a ton
i ran black on blue last year and they said "they couldnt see them" and i got nailed with a ticket as i didnt have my extinguisher...

you may think your "cooler if you dont show the numbers"
but in the end you'll save yourself if they are visible

Same as Canada.... Its like driving around without a plate on your car. Even if you don't get ticketed you will get hassled.

two of my buddies bought new cars in 05...they had a contest to see who could avoid putting plates on there cars longest...one sold the car before he had too and the other one is still running no plates...kind of stupid but funny
