THE Tampon
This is the most battle-ready and battle-scarred blaster on the east coast, reinforced in the early days of blaster surf riding by Gramps, this ski has been slashing waves and getting air for many years in the surf of va beach. Its been to just about every WaveDaze and many Daytona rides. It's reinforced in the engine bay, in the rear from the inside, and from the outside.
Why is it called "The Tampon"? Just look at..... seriously....
The hull has many surface cracks and wear from riding but I don't see any significant cracks that would make me stop trying to roll or flip it. It does need some rear-end edge repair where the chines have been worn down from shallow water riding.
The Tampon does have some good parts that go with it as follows:
- Good motor with good compression
- Clean set of carbs just rebuilt with OEM mikuni rebuild kit no junk
- Speed plate for carbs from RHAAS
- Riva Red Pipe
- Bilge pump with miltary bilge switch
- Brand new steering cable
- 10/16 Hooker
- Aftermarket extended ride plate
- Aftermarket intake grate
- Skupper (sealed up currently, probably needs rebuild)
- Good battery
What does it need?
- A paint job
- Returfing
- Some minor body repair on the rear edges
- Hood seal
- TLC
Because the hull is pretty rough, I am going to throw in an extra hull that is in far better shape. It was rhino-lined by some clown, but it pulls off pretty easily. You could prep that hull and move the driveline over to it with the hood etc and have a lake ski, or you could restore this piece of "history" to its former glory knowing full well it WILL NOT BE BROKEN by any rider!
