Freestyle Remember When Standup trends

You wanted your foot holds all the way back
you wanted the cool UMI turn plate that was WAY longer than stock
The longer the ride plate the better
reinforcement was cool regardless how much weight it added
A lowered hood was a HUGE mod
Scuppers were sit and sink valves and there was NO WAY we would put that hole in our hull
Dry pipes were for race boats
We all wanted a 6 gal tank
The way I found out a shorter pole was better was busting my RN pole and having to remove 4" to repair it.


feel free to add to this if you were around for those days. Crazy that I been riding these freakn things for 18 freakn years now and a few of my ridding buddies can still say chit like " that was before your time" UNFREAKNBELEIVABLE.

I remember when a video of a Japanese rider did multiple flips in a row everyone hated on them saying it was stupid.

2 yrs later when US riders / hulls/ engine&pumps are capable of pulling multiple flips its cool again.

Oh... and when upgrading a SN hull to a RN hull was a big deal (that's about as far back as I go in this sport)

How about, straight grooved turf, stick on lifters, straight blade impellers, loud/no waterboxes.

YUP and the UMI turn back straight bars added another 3" in length to your pole so we were running like + 5" poles, mine is prolly - 12" now dayum near a foot and a half difference. WOW, nearlly half the length they were hahaha. It was called GROOVY TURF dude and we all wanted purple or pink.
