remove rubber mat pad question

whats the best way to get all of the excess rubber from the top rubber mat pad off?

i dont want to mess up my brand new hull with stuid knicks !

and advice is appreciated!

Are you talking about the stock rail caps? Use a wire wheel on a drill or an angle grinder and just be careful when you get near the edges - you'll need to scrape the edges using a screwdriver or similar. But, a wire wheel will save you a lot of elbow grease. I've finished the edges with a wire wheel on a dremel tool too - that's a bit easier to control.

yeah stock mats
I used a bunch of new razor blades and slowly cut off the excess rubber. It was a major pain though...
yeah i did that lol kinda like filleting a fish lol

just theres just a little on the sides and i dont want to mess up the sides

Power tools my friends, power tools.... A Dremel will clean those edges right up without fear of scratching the sides. You can zip that rubber off in about 5 minutes with a wire wheel

My thumbs were all bruised after slowly scraping and peeling away my stock Rail Caps when I got the ski new. I was so paranoid I was going to gouge my new SJ... It took an hour or two to get it all off, and the caps off in one piece. I was hating it. I guess they use superglue to hold those bad boys on. What a PITA
